Show me the $$$-March Madness

Here is what the NCAA makes off March Madness:

2005: $420 million
2006: $453 million
2007: $490 million
2008: $529 million
2009: $571 million
2010: $617 million
2011: $657 million
2012: $710 million
2013: $764 million
Here is what the NCAA makes off the women's tournament:

2005: $12 million
2006: $13 million
2007: $13.8 million
2008: $14.8 million
2009: $15.8 million
2010: $16.8 million
2011: $17.9 million
2012: $18.8 million
2013: $19.1 million
So essentially, the NCAA makes more money in 1 1/2 men's games than they make for the entire women's tournament each year:)

What's your point?

OK, the Men's Tournament makes more than the Women's Tournament. This is not a new observation.

Peace

MLS average attendance higher than NBA and NHL

From your very article.

The strong numbers at the season’s onset are a positive sign, but they are slightly deceptive. Obviously, opening day attendance is going to be high, and history has shown they will go down as the season progresses. When considering the NBA or NHL, those leagues have over 50 mores games on their schedule, allowing for greater profits. Also, the majority of MLS games take place on the weekend, making it convenient for a family event when coupled with the low costs. That’s great, but the league doesn’t have the elasticity to raise ticket prices, hold more games during the middle of the week, or add a couple more to the schedule.

Not sure where you got your numbers for the men's tournament, but they are low. In 2011 it was $771M in television rights alone ... and it generates more than 90% of the NCAA's annual budget.
