Happy Veteran's Day ...

To all of our Forum military veterans, thanks for serving.

I always like to remember my Dad on Veteran's Day. During World War II, Staff Sergeant "WillyMac" fought his way with the infantry from North Africa up the "spine" of Italy to Rome, over some of Europe's most difficult terrain under some of the worst weather conditions found anywhere during the war.

I have a photo of my grandfather in his Army uniform from WWII. Also, I have a nephew in the Army who is a staff sergeant. His main duty is teaching other soldiers to disarm land mines. Not kidding.

My grandfather was a German Cavalry Soldier in WWI. I have a photo, his dress sword, and his Iron Cross.

My dad served with Patton in WWII - and fought against the Germans! I have great photo of him and and have all his medals.

It appears that I will be the last serving Soldier in this string however, as neither of my boys appear to be heading for the military.....which is ok by me.

And Happy Veteran's Day to all!

My grandfather fought Poncho Villa in the old horse cavalry, and then also served in WWI and WWII. My dad served in WWII as a navy corpsman attached to the Marines on several landings. After rotating back to the states and the Oakland Navy Hospital, he met my mother who was stationed there as a WAVE. I served three years in the Army (USASA) back in my day.
Hail to all Vets everywhere!!
