Invisible Partner

Worked with a doozy yesterday. Nice guy but I don't think I can ever work with him again. 7/8 Boys. It wasn't enough that he blows his whistle too often in his own area. He had to blow his whistle on my calls too. We aren't talking secondary coverage either. Calls that are right in front of me. Apparently my whistle isn't quick enough. Lol. When I did get a chance to blow whistle, he would always give a second whistle. Even on my sideline. If this were a high school game I would have said something, but I rarely work with him so I didn't see the point. Apparently he is always like this. Several people I know call him happy feet. He officiates like the other guy doesn't exist. Oh, and he still uses the birds eye on every foul.

There, I'm done venting. That felt good.

I would want to know why this was taking place. What are you afraid of to simply ask? Even if you do not work with him much he might not know any better. I do not see any harm asking why he has a whistle that much.

Peace

So essentially, it's somebody else's problem? http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra.../shakehead.gif

Those are the best kinds of problems.

keep in mind that you "promote what you permit"....since you said nothing and did nothing, then it must be ok with you, right?

either talk to your partner and fix it OR don't complain about it. by "venting" after the game, all you have done is made yourself feel better and haven't resolved the problem.

you may not be able to "fix" the problem then and there, but i'm guessing if other officials had said the same things to him over the last 5,10,15, or however many years he's been officiating, you wouldn't have had the problems you did in that game!
