"Raise the Roof" 3pt mechanic?

Is anyone else doing this? I saw a few crews doing this last year at a few games and too me it was highly annoying as it looked sloppy.

I have never seen an official do that.

Instead of the "field goal", when you raise your arms you lay your hands back with the palms facing the sky.

Got'cha.

Well, I wouldn't recommend it as it certainly isn't mechanic #16 - but, that's just me.

I only use that mechanic if I've built up enough rapport with the table crew.

Haven't seen it this side of the lake, but if I do it would be deserving of inclusion in my "'That Guy' Signals Pet Peeve" list.

I've seen a few officials face their palms away from their body toward the court instead of facing their palms inward (toward each other, like you should). But I've never seen an official put their palms toward the sky...

My 3-pointer is the same way I signal a touchdown: palms in, fingers and thumbs together, elbow at a 135° angle, and arms up at the same time. The "raise the roof" mechanic is rather silly for officials to do. Now, if it's a summer fun league, then maybe.

Are you sure they were not college football officials and trying to reset the 40 second play clock?

Never seen that before.

Peace
