what..not Enuff?

Girls HS Fall League...Coach complains that we are not calling enough fouls...kicker is we called about 40 fouls total for the game which was 42 minutes long. This same coach complained about same thing 4 weeks ago when I had him..of course both times he complained his team was losing by 20

Comments please:)

What is there to comment on other than this is a typical stupid coach. Either tell that coach the truth that you have called a lot of fouls already or ignore them. The first one might add a little more excitement and fun, the latter is probably the best remedy. ;)

Peace

"You're right coach. We need to call one more." WHACK. ;)

He may have been right....or maybe not. 40 in a game is not a shocking number...that just gets you at the double bonus in each half for both teams. I've had some games get near 60 (and others less than 20). Don't let the number dictate what you call...if it is a foul, call it.

This was the most fouls in a game that I have been involved with in my short career. Truth be told it was not a whole alot of fun blowing every 60 seconds a foul plus all the violations added in for good measure

Just a poorly played and coached game when that happens..IMHO:)

1) How do you get 42 minutes? Two 21 minute halves?

2) What do you hear from other coaches? If they "all" are saying "it's too rough" or "call more fouls" or "be aggressive, girls, these officials aren't calling much", then you probably need to tighten up for this league. If it's just this one coach, then ignore him.

Sometimes you just have games like this.

Poor play is poor play! I've had this at Varsity level! Just a train wreck.

Happens. Shrug.

Get In, Get Done, Get Out (GIGDGO). Nothing you can do to make it better sometimes.

The sooner you stop worrying what coaches and fans think of your officiating, the sooner you'll take that next step to becoming an even better official.

Never judge your skills as an official by how the coaches react or don't react.

A few years ago, in the NFHS Quarterly publication, an article noted that the average fouls per game in high school sub-varsity games was in the mid 30's, and varsity games slightly lower. Fourty is not totaly out of line.
As for this particular coach, maybe you look like the guy that stole his girl friend in Jr. High. . . :)

Words of wisdom from Camron Rust.

Two really good varsity teams playing zone defenses? Yawn.

Two really bad freshman teams playing man to man defense? Let's get ready to rumble.

Oh. I thought it was two 20 minute halves with a really slow-reacting timekeeper.

Even for you, that was a low blow. It was a tossed softball, but you didn't have to swing at it.

So, you're saying I didn't hit it out of the park?
