Just now on CNN they gave a list of about a dozen companies that might have been doing business with the pre-Saddam Iraqi government. The list read something like this:

Setting the record straight
 

To set the record straight, it was a list of companies that had been fined and/or otherwise disciplined for violating trade restrictions. This may have been Iraq, but also included countries like Sudan and Cuba. The Yankees were fined for negotiating for baseball players from Cuba, NOT for doing business with Iraq.

Please be careful. This is how bad rumors get started.

Yanks were cited for dealing with Cuba, negotiating for Cuban players, not Iraq. Although it makes me wonder, that al-Shahhaf guy (Iraqi Information Minister) would make one helluva P.R. guy...

They forgot to list the entire country of France.
