Girls middle school tournament game.
A-1 has the ball at the top of the key, B-1 guarding A-1 is playing way off of her, daring A-1 to shoot. A-2 keeps running in between A-1 and B-1, not trying to get open but trying to distract the defender. Any call? Team B's coach was all up in arms over this. I told her that if anything, it is helping her team because she only has to guard 4 players since A-2 does not even want the ball. Clearly she was not trying to set a pick so I could not call an illegal screen. However, this did not seem legal either. |
No contact. No call.

i would like to say that:
SOMETIMES NO CALL IS THE BEST CALL! |
I'm sure B-1's mom was standing up and screaming, "THAT'S A MOVING SCREEN!"
|
T the player for "being silly".
Kidding. Can't see anything remotely that you would call. A 2 has every right to occupy anyspace on the floor that isn't aleady occupied or will be occupied(ie Allowing a shooter to land). She could do somersaults between the 2 players if she wanted to as long as there was no contact or advantage gained. |
Were they required to be in a man to man defense? That is done around here quite a bit, however, it generally is for elementary levals.
