Steve Javie retires

Links forthcoming.

I'm quite certain it's due to injuries.

APG Wed Sep 07, 2011 11:50am

It may or may not be injuries...he did miss the 2009-2010 season due to injuries but worked all of last season plus two games in the finals this year...

Steve Javie was always one of my favorite officials to watch...if it's true, it'll be a big loss for the NBA and officiating community.

It is true. Sadly. Along with two others who were great assets to the game. Sad to see them go.

I think the other is Bob Delany? Who's the other one?

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Do not tell the fans. Let this go without their input. :p

That being said it is always sad when a guy like that go when they are successful. But for him this is probability one of these situations where he wants to go while he has a say in the matter. I wish him the best.

Peace

Not on my birthday!!!!!!

Steve is 56 years old. I would not have guessed him that old. But he's worked 25 seasons. Can't blame him for retiring before his knees are worse. He almost retired last year.

56 is not as old as I used to think it was.........

I'm guessing the total number of NBE technicals called will drop drastically.

Actually, the number of technical fouls that Javie called was greatly reduced in the past 10 years. He had a rep, players didn't screw with him, and he didn't have to call as many as he once did.
