Rule Question

A1 goes airborne and is fouled by B1, before returning to floor A1 crash es into B2 who legally set up. Ball goes in. … ? I was thinking this would be a double foul...

It can't be a double foul -- that's a foul by two players against each other.

So, it's a false double foul.

Not by rule.
I believe we go no basket, A1 shoots 2 with the lane cleared, Team Bs throw-in baseline running if the 2nd FT is successful, spot if not.

I'm in agreement with this but I want to make sure I'm thinking about this straight. We waive off the basket because of the player control on A1. We do award the foul by B1 as two free throws for a shooting foul. Team B gets the right to endline run if 2nd FT is successful. Spot throw in closest the player control foul, which may end up on sideline or endline.

4.19.9 SITUATION A: A1 leaps high and is fouled by B1 as he/she taps the ball
which subsequently goes through A’s basket. A1 fouls B2 in returning to the floor.
RULING: This is a false double foul. The foul by B1 does not cause the ball to
become dead. However, the player-control foul by A1 does cause the ball to
become dead and also dictates that no goal can be scored. Since the goal is not
scored, A1 is awarded two free throws for the foul by B1. No players are allowed
along the lane as Team B will be awarded the ball following the last free throw. If
the last throw is successful, the throw-in is from anywhere along the end line. If
the last throw is unsuccessful, the throw-in is from a designated spot nearest the
foul.

Thanks Billy.

I had the strangest feeling after reading this. I remembered a time, when I didn't worry about or even know what a false double foul was.

Thanks should go to just another ref. He found the citation, I just copied, and pasted, it for the benefit of the Forum.
