California left a mark.

BktBallRef Fri Mar 21, 2003 12:00am

My 12 v. 5 upsets haven't worked out. Of course, one would have if the kid from WI-Milwaukee could shoot a lay-up!! :(

Poor kid, I know he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders after missing 2 easy ones in the last minute.

That'll replay in his mind for years. That's a rough one.
I'm really glad Tulsa quit shooting 66% and Dayton quit shooting 35%

Nice work Stan - ya big dork! :)

Hey, here's a stupid question (I know, there are no stupid questions, just stoopid people) - how do you change the word "ENTRY" to something else? For instance Chuck's says something like "I wanna ref, not watch"...at 24% right he aint much of a watcher, is he? :)

BktBallRef Fri Mar 21, 2003 10:22am

Good Grief

I agree, that is a fairly unimaginative choice.

Open your bracket and click on "Change Entry Name."

I hope you can pull it off!

Speaking of Chuck's entry, I've been doing some research and have just discovered he has been mathematically eliminated from winning ;)

Ah, now I understand. I hadn't even checked the standings. I'm only 50 points back. I made fairly aggressive picks in the 5/12 and 6/11 matchups. Oh well. Plus the Salukis got screwed on a horrible blocking call. They should've gotten the ball back with a chance to win that game. Oh well.

At least my South bracket is still intact!

Chuck

Andy Fri Mar 21, 2003 11:20am

Helloooooo up there.........

Greetings from the bottom.......

I like Chuck's attitude, I'm only 50 points out of the lead!

I'll get it all back when my 5 and 6 seeds make the Final Four!

Ah, Chuck, they've only played two games in the South. :)

rockyroad Fri Mar 21, 2003 11:27am

The frustrating thing in all this is that my computer at home is currently in need of repair - something about my 9 year old son and a can of pop, but I'm still not clear on all the details - and being a teacher, my computer at work blocks access to all "games and contests" - so while Chuck may be getting his BoSox a$$ kicked right now, at least he is in the game...sigh...

ChampaignBlue Fri Mar 21, 2003 11:27am

As a guest to this side of the board, hung up my whistle 10 years ago, I was just being polite and giving everyone a head start on me. Yeah, that's it, I was just being polite, sure, they'll believe that, wait, did I just say that out loud? Shoot.

Oops, sorry to hear about your kid breaking your home computer. A couple of yrs ago my younger son downloaded some game software or something and it hung the computer big time. Had to reformat the hard drive, I lost lots of important stuff and useless stuff - pictures, tax info, my recipes for boiling water...but look at the bright side: since your kid is only 9 you'll have plenty of time to get him back! :D

Of course I was just kidding Chuck, I have no idea. It actually looks like Wake Forest could carry you far. As far as that charge, errr block call in the Missouri/S.Illinois game...OMG I am a Missouri fan all the way, but even I didn't want to see the game decided by a call like that, it was a charge all the way.

Probably so. But did you see the call? I was watching it live and said out loud "Offensive!" The official came out with a block and I said "Really?" After watching it again, I think if it was anything, it was a PC. Very tough call, in a very critical situation.

As I just posted above, Dev, I agree. I don't like to bash the guys on TV; they're there for a reason. But even at real speed, it didn't even seem close to me. I wonder how he and the crew felt about it after the game.

Chuck

I know how I would have felt about it after the game, I would have lost my lunch in the toilet. You are right, they deserve to be there and I thought called a good game up until then, but nobody will remember any of it except that last call. The only thing that gave him any out was that the Salukis got a good luck at a three to win the game despite that. I feel for him but I am quite certain he will be watching with the rest of us from now on :(

Every time I ask him what happened, he starts crying...what a wimp! :) Not really worried about it - gives me an excuse to get a new one...and to devdog and Chuck, I think there will be quite a few officials watching after yesterday...did anyone see the game where - with 34 seconds left - Burr was at the table for a really looonnnggg time looking at the monitor - the tv went to commercial and I had to go to class and missed what that was all about...seemed really strange...

He was checking to see if the shot had hit the rim, hence, as shot clock reset. It did barely glance the rim and they reset the shot clock from :19 to turning it off since there were only :34 left in the game, so it was a significant correction. It took the guys announcing a little bit to figure out why he was looking.

rockyroad Fri Mar 21, 2003 12:59pm

Got it...thanks devdog. I wondered at the time if that was what it was all about, but the tv guys confused me...that's what I get for listening to them!!

Yes, the announcers were trying to figure out what they were reviewing, b/c Burr wasn't even looking at the monitor.

If that's all they were really checking, then why the heck was he over there so long. It was obvious on the replay that the ball hit the rim. So why take 20 minutes at the table?

Chuck

Chuck, you caught me man! I think the LSU-Purdue game was the difference. Otherwise, we were identical today. :( :(
