Preparing For A Typical Big East Game ???

Is this the Georgetown of the early eighties? Where's John Thompson, Sleepy Floyd, Gene Smith, Bill Martin, David Wingate, Michael Jackson, Reggie Williams, and Patrick Ewing? I don't see any of them in the video.

That fight was started by the Chinese team and escalated by the Chinese team.

I agree. Two Chinese players attacking the GT player in the BC, and the entire Chinese team comes off the bench after him. Several even picked up chairs and were swinging/throwing them.

"The melee was the latest instance of on-court fighting by China, whose players have been fined tens of thousands of dollars by the world and Asian federations for scrapping with opponents."

Duke is supposed to be traveling to China to play as well. Wonder how this affects their trip?

Sheesh - it looks like the Chinese have about 20 players on their team. And whoever said basketball isn't a contact sport? :o

No matter who started it, this won't help the image of Americans in China or abroad. Nor does it represent this University well. :(

Based on what I saw in this video I don't see it as damning towards G-Town.

Does the Chinese team play at the professional level?

bainsey Fri Aug 19, 2011 09:59am

As an aside, does FIBA have the same rules/penalties about leaving the bench as we do in the states?

I don't know, but for this contest it may not have mattered anyway. It was an exhibition game.
