What do you do if you are in the situation where you call a foul, and something happens before you report it, and you forget who the foul is on? Do you charge it to the team? Do you make up a player?

What would you do? What does the rules say in a situation like this?

Thanks.

P.S. This didn't happen to me. I was just asked the question.

"Hey Doc...it hurts when I do this"

"Dont do that"

Ask your partner(s). If they dont know....ask the table starting with the clock keeper. A lot of times, they saw the action. Then I'd ask the official score keeper. I would say with all those options, the answer you'll prob get is something that will jog your memory or be your actual number.

Usually guys lose the shooter rather than the player committing the foul. I've noticed this year that I am better on getting numbers etc. and I think it's because the game is finally slowing down for me based on experience.

Bottom line...dont guess. Somebody has info to make sure you get it right.

Old Guys...anything to add?

Sometimes you can get away with asking the players, after you have exhausted all other avenues. (Does this mean I'm an "Old Guy"?) Find a player with 4 fouls, say; "I think it was you. Do you have any help for me?"

Bottom line ~ Take your time and get the number!

Communicating information to your
partner is invaluable. This is what works
for me:
TWEEEET(whistle), arm raised, close in on
offender, call out number and color of
offender, signal for 2 shots or spot for
throw in. I don't listen to anything else
until I have finished this, unless my partner
and I have a double whistle. If that is the case
we get together and go with what I got
(just Kidding)
