If you feel comfortable, answer the following ?'s:

In your State, Province, Country - How much do you get paid for a High School Game? How much for D III College? How much for D II College? Any other additions? I'm just curious, ballpark figures are ok by me.

Where I'm at, here's ballpark:

Varsity High School - $55, this goes up in Play-Offs and way up for State Tourney - Per Diems/Gas Money

D III/JuCo - $90-100 + Mileage

D II - $135 + Mileage

Please don't answer if it makes you uncomfortable, I just want to know how we stack up.

HS V - $64, no mileage
HS post-season - $74, no mileage
HS JV/Fr - $44, no mileage
Juco - $100, no mileage
D3 - $110, plus mileage (up to $50, I think)
D2 - $130, plus mileage

Should note that only D2 and D3 use 3-whistle.

rockyroad Tue Mar 04, 2003 02:16pm

Out here in the wild west:

HS: $47 + mileage (I think)
JC: $57.50 in WA, and $80 in OR (3-whistle)
NAIA: $70 + mileage
D-III: $80 + mileage
D-II: $125 + mileage

The mileage for NAIA and D-III is some formula that is beyond my limited capacity to figure out...

In Iowa -
High School Double Header $65-75 - usually no mileage
Tourney - $55 plus mileage .40 cent per
Substate $75 plus mileage
State - $95 plus mileage
Different between boys and girls tourney - we have an association for both

LSams Tue Mar 04, 2003 03:16pm

In Central Florida

HS varsity 3 whistle $35 + $5 mileage
HS varsity 2 whistle $40 + $5 mileage
HS sub-varsity $30 + $5 mileage (only get this once each night in the case of a double header).

NAIA womens $90 no mileage
D2 womens $160 no mileage
(at least the conferences I work)

Montana...
HS Varsity $50+ .38 permile driver, .08 rider.
Three whistle is $42 or $44
Everything below that is $30 + driver/rider

JV Guy Sez:

Cincinnati, Ohio area - all depending on league

7 / 8 Grd $20 - $25
Freshman $25 - 35
JV $30 - $37
2-man V $50 (most Girls)
3-man V $45 - $55 (All Boys and some girls)

None of those include mileage

Most of the assignors schedule the 7th and 8th grade games as double headers so you make 40 - $50 each time out.

About half the leagues schedule the FR and JV games as double headers so you make $55 - 70 each time out. I happen to work the $70 double header league. When I make Varsity, I think I'll be taking a pay cut!

Interesting this came up...I was just talking to a softball ump today....the parks around Cincinnati are only paying $17 - $20 for adult softball games. It's no wonder they cant find enough umpires.

Northen VA:

Varsity - 3 person $45 reg, $54 districts, $60 regionals
JV/F $36
MS 2-person $31, 1-person $40
Rec. $22-$30 (I think, it seems to change weekly)

Kentucky:

Varsity 2-whistle: $50
Varsity 3-whistle: $40
JV: $25
Middle School: $20

This is for the 6th and 7th region which comprises Louisville, which is a large urban area. We don't get any travel money. I believe the rest of the state gets some travel money, maybe $5.

Nevadaref

Yup.

Ref in PA Wed Mar 05, 2003 03:44pm

In PA the host school sets the fee. Boys fees can be different than Girls.

HSV: $40.00 - $65.00 No milage (most pay about $50/game)
HSJV: $30.00 - $45.00 No milage (most pay about $40/game)

Fees go up for state tourney, but I haven't done any playoff games yet.

Don't know about college.
