I stumbled upon the site http://www.hoopsref.com and they have a list of articles that look interesting.

I also read their skimpy (by comparsion) forum, and noted some of the same names.

My question is to those names- would you reccomend the site as worthy of the fee per year of 35 bucks? Keeping in mind that I have no real job:), only reffing. But I am serious about getting better, and I would consider it an investment if I could get some help from the articles.

Any other sites that you guys actually deem worthy of paying for?

I did do 16 games this weekend, so I guess I could spend a little of that, if any is left after the medical bills I will need to pay if I keep up this pace:)

I scanned their discussion boards and all I found out was that NBA refs can't spell any better than college or HS refs. :p

16 games this weekend!! Ain't no way man, those days are long gone. Can you say "burnout"?

Ron Pilo Tue Mar 04, 2003 09:39am

Don't spend your money.........I did and haven't gotten my money's worth. No new articles in the last couple of months, the only thing that changes daily is the question of the day.............not worth my $35.00.

That's too bad, Ron. Sorry to hear that. I post over there sometimes, but I don't pay for the other stuff. I thought there was supposed to be video posted for discussion, but I guess that never panned out. Too bad.

Thank you Ron, At the risk of offending our hosts(?), what about Officiating.com or Referee? Same question: worth it?

As to the burnout comment, yes- I do get a little burned out- when my feet are aching, the kids are not good, the coach seems determined to use all his TO's, and the crowd is yelling ignorant comments. But then the next game will be a barnburner, where I say to myself, I can't believe I'm getting paid for this:)

As to the officiating.com question. I am a bit prejudice here as I have been familiar with officiating.com (eReferee.com) from the very start. I cancelled my subscription to Referee magazine when they sued eReferee.com over name infringement. I haven't regreted my decision at all.

Officiating.com has of course this great discussion board as well as great articles. For my money Officiating.com is the best.
