Last night on Sportscenter, their "Top Ten" list was a list of the biggest farces in sports history, basically people going out of their way for personal gain. Instances such as Orlando's Anthony Bowie grabbing a missed free throw with 2 seconds left and calling a time out in a 15 point game, just to give himself the chance for an assist, which would give him a triple-double. The Nykesha Sales/UConn fiasco (my #1, as you know) was #3 on the list. #1 was Brett Favre falling down in front of Michael Strahan to give him the sack record.

The list came about basically because the last few games, Kobe Bryant has been scoring late in blowouts simply to keep his streak of 40-point games alive.

Well, I thought I had put in the link, but it sure isn't there . . . thought it was an interesting follow up on the UConn discussion relating to the Senior Day thread. Listed the author's view of the top 10 records that were a farce because of the moves made to get or protect a record. (E.g. Pete Rose playing himself while managing in order to get the hit record, the UConn game, the defensive flop by Florida [?] to allow a TD to get their QB back on the field, etc.) Alas, I can't find the link again.

A farcicle is like a popcicle, except you hold it farther away from you when you eat it.

What you're trying to say is that it is the opposite of a
nearsicle.
