Player A throws a pass and player B tries to kick the ball. Her shoe comes off and hits the ball as it goes out of bounce.?

Jurassic Referee Sun Feb 23, 2003 06:11pm

It's A's ball for a throw-in where it went OOB,because it was last touched by B before it went OOB.

Welcome to the Forum.

I think this would fall under "intentional".

[I meant did her foot kick the ball when the shoe was on the foot or in the act of kicking, the shoe flew off and hit the ball. Or did the ball hit her foot after the shoe came off Hmmmmmmmmm?/QUOTE]

Zimbo said above "her shoe came off and hit the ball".Seems pretty plain to me. Of course, the image of the shoe coming off and then hitting the ball with her foot still in it kinda grossed me out,to be quite honest! I can picture her foot sitting there singing "I ain't got no body". Eeeeeeeew!:D

Zimbo Sun Feb 23, 2003 09:34pm

Player A was in the front court attemping to pass as Player B's shoe left her foot while attemping to kick the ball, her shoe striking the ball in mid air deflecting the ball out of bounds. Hope this is a little plainer

Comparisons

Hmmm...would this be like Greg Maddox throwing his mit at the ball?? or Jimmy Connors throwing his racket in the air to return a lob??? I'd have to research the book on this one, and maybe defer to logic.... B violation. A ball nearest OOB. If it was done intentionally, which I'd guess she didn't, could an unsporting T be issued? Anyone??

9-3 A player shall not cause the ball to go out of bounds.
