Thanks for the response/support from those who responded to "What A Combo!"
The good news is that I worked 6 games in an 8th grade tourney with great partners today.

I even had a comical interaction with one of the "Basketball moms". :)

I am trail preparing to administer a throw-in when I observe a player checking in at the table.

Behind me, a soft-spoken mom (a mother in the booster club that is hosting this tourney) is trying to let me know about the incoming player, "Sub, we have a sub!"

I whistle and beckon the substitute and then quickly turn to her and ask, "What kind of sub do you have? Can I have a ham and cheese?"

She paused and then caught on to my play on words and had a big smile on her face. It was worth the chuckle... and we play on.

Next dead ball situation that I am back in that area, she "one-upped" me. She had the ham and cheese sub waiting. :D
Subs are a mainstay at the concessions stand at this tourney.

Boy, did it taste good too. (But I waited til the end of the game to eat it.) Hard to blow a whistle with a mouthful.
