Doing the scorebook for my son's 9-10 rec game. Just before 2nd half tip I notice that a kid on the other team (black shirts and black shorts) is wearing a belt with a metal buckle holding up black street shorts. So I discreetly inform the senior R who just happened to be my partner (mentor) last Thursday in another league. He approaches the kid table side and makes him remove his belt, at which point the kid's pants drop about 4 inches. The parents start roaring, the kid is embarassed, if he plays the shorts will be down around his ankles in 3 steps. What to do?

Never fear, the resourceful ref goes to his bag and pulls out a roll of black electrical tape and proceeds to put 3-4 wraps around the kids waist. Done deal, the kid plays without any incident.

You gotta love Rec Ball!
