A1 tries to rebound A2's shot but trips and falls to the ground. He is sitting with his butt out of bounds and the ball is rolling towards him in the key area. Then A1 intentionally kicks the ball. His leg is in bounds but the rest of him is out. Here's the question: Is this a kick ball or since he is mostly out of play an out-of-bounds violation? Either way its a turnover but I want to know the correct call. Post your thoughts, thanks.

Like it makes a difference. One could make a case for kicking or one could make a case when his foot 1st touched the ball, it is OOB and the follow through with his foot is nothing. Having said this i would just say OOB.

The only thing that matters in this play is the location of A1. A1 is out-of-bounds when he makes contact with the ball, therefore A1 has commited an out-of-bounds violation.

Kicking is an intentional act involving movement of the leg. Therefore, the ball must be touched with the leg (OOB at that instant) before it can be kicked by that leg (Kick violation).
Does it really matter? No.
