What about that "Slamball" game I have seen on Cable lately? Does that qualify? :D

next changes?

great historical aspects, very informative and definitely filled in some (lots) of knowledge gaps. Wondered what will be the rules changes that will emminently be introduced or ones that people would like to be introduced? I read about the entertainment-razz-a-matazz that gives spectators 'spectacle' will have to be curbed a little to get the 'mongrel' back into players (instead of 'showboating) because of the States being seriously outplayed and out-muscled in the last World Cup.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to pick on anyone's language skills, but I have absolutely no idea at all what this passage means

It may mean playing Joe Dumars and Ben Wallace ball.

Jeez, I'm still lost. Are you contrasting their styles?

The Piston's philosophy seems to be "Do what has to be done". No stars (Well Wallace is I guess for all the clean-up work he does around the boards). Play defense. Get the loose ball. Stop the shooter. A throw back attitude from the "Bad Boys". Be hungry and just get it done.
No glitz, ...just purpose.

Gotcha, thanks!

New rules on the way?

thanks for that informative posting 'theboys', will the game of b-ball change much , are rule changes imminent?, I have heard murmurings about new rules to stop the excessive showboating since the upset results of the B-ball World Cup where the U.S. were easily out-muscled and out-played.

How will new rules curtail showboating which seems to be so much of the game for the spectators?

Basketball has a world cup too?
How often does that happen?
