A couple weeks ago, I confessed to starting play with 6 players on the court and the mess that followed. To relive my embarassment, go to: http://www.officialforum.com/showthr...6&pagenumber=2

However, I feel a little better today, since the crew of the Seton Hall/Georgetown game last night allowed the final 5 seconds of regulation to be played with 6 Hoyas on the court. As far as I know, it was not detected, nor penalized. Georgetown inbounded under their own basket (playing 6 on 5) and scored to take a 2 point lead. Then Seton Hall ran the length of the floor and put up a jumper just inside the FT line to tie it, eventually winning in OT (while playing 5-on-5, presumably).

Ouch.

The BYU scorer allowed BYU to have an extra timeout during
last weekend's BYU-UTAH game. The crew did not catch it.
Happens to the best of them.

The question that popped into my head (right after "How could they let that happen?") was: "If the Hoyas' game-tying shot with 1.9 left was a little later, and the officials went to the courtside monitor to see if it was released in time, and while watching the replay saw six from SHU on the floor, could they assess a technical based on that?"

No. Number of players on the court is not reviewable at the courtside monitor.

In the interest of accuracy, I think I got the details backwards in my initial post. Seton Hall scored to take the lead with about 6 seconds left, and then Georetown scored with too many men on the floor to send it to OT.

Really? I was at that game, specifically watching the officials. I didn't notice it either. Guess I still need to work on my "game situation awareness"

anybody catch this spectacle(DEBACLE) on tv. 6 players were allowed to play offese and defense in the last 7 seconds of the game. this goes to show that coaches and players of the opposing team are idiots not to mention the other 3 people in control out there. the refs would have to throw me out of the game because of the stink i would make.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll see if Mr. Kitts works the Final Four this year!
My opinion is that all three of these "great" officials should be done for the year, and then evaluate the situation from there.
Of course, I am a G'town alum.
