Rule 9 Art. 2 EXCEPTION 2: It is not a violation if a defensive player who jumped from frontcourt, secures control of the ball while both feet are off the floor and he/she returns to the floor with one or both feet in backcourt.
NOTE: The exceptions allow a player to make a normal landing and it makes no difference whether the first foot down is in frontcourt or backcourt. Only the player gaining possession is covered by the exceptions.

Hmmmmm, a "normal landing"..."no difference whether the first foot down is in frontcourt"...

Question: Would it make a "difference" if the player's momentum caused that player to start a dribble, to avoid traveling, while his second foot came down in frontcourt...and then the player dribbled right into the backcourt?
Or, as his momentum was taking him into the backcourt... would the player have to treat the division line like an OOB line and toss the ball back into the froncourt, to avoid the violation?

If the player's back foot remains in contact with the backcourt it would not be a violation. However, if the player lifts the back foot and initiates the dribble in the FC and then returns to the BC, then a violation has occurred.
