30 point blowout times 2
Yesterday, worked two girls HS games in an "end of school" tourney that was a fund raiser for a local HS athletic program. These were 22 minutes running halves games. I think the level I had was probably frosh-soph. Both games featured a large school from the urban area against a small school from a rural area, although the teams were different in the two games. The schools from the urban areas won both games. In the first, the final was 32-2. Yes, that's right. The small school scored only two points in the entire game and they got that basket with about a minute to go in the first half. In the second game, the final was 45-15. Again, a 30 point blowout. Both winners displayed pretty good sportsmanship and neither losing coach complained about anything, although one did want an "over-the-back" call. My partner explained there was no contact and therefore no foul and the coach just nodded. That was refreshing. The high point of both games was that we never went to stop clock in the last two minutes because the point differential was more than 10.
BTW - the first losing team's jerseys said "Lady Grays" on it and the second losing team's jersey's said "Lady Indians" on it. They were orange jerseys and they sometimes got confused when we called "RED".
