Black or White Socks

Basic Question: Black or white sock with shorts and stripes for summer leagues?

If I was color blind it would not matter :)

Thanks!

White socks please. You look like an old man with your pants off if you have black socks with black shoes, shorts and a striped shirt.

Peace

Concur - white socks with shorts.

While I consider myself "middle-aged," I guess some of the younger officials could consider me "old"......and they don't wanna be seeing none of that! :p

Check local listings. Here, it's black socks, and I get to decide between looking old and looking out of place.

Disagree. You comment was actually quite good. It's nice to see someone competing with Mark Padgett for submitting humorous posts. He doesn't hold the monopoly on Official Forum humor. He thinks that he does, and sometimes we patronize him by allowing him to think he does, but he really doesn't. And I know that he won't see this because I've been on his ignore list since 2005. Now if I could just figure out out to put him on my ignore list, then both of us will be happy posters.

Now, now gentlemen (and I use the word gentlemen very loosely) you need to shake hands and play nicely. :p

I think Bing Crosby put it best: "There is nothing in the world I wouldn't do for Bob Hope, and there is nothing he wouldn't do for me. We spend our lives doing nothing for each other."

Or, if you prefer, in the immortal words of Montgomery Burns: "I'll keep it short and sweet. Family. Religion. Friendship. These are the three demons you must slay if you wish to succeed in business."

Hey Mark Padgett. Don't make me break out the blue font.

Black socks, but be sure to wear a pair of white socks underneath. My frosh basketball coach told us a story about some president's son who got blood poisoning from wearing colored socks next to his feet, which has prompted me to this day to always wear a pair of white socks inside my black socks whenever black is called for.

That's an urban legend. Calvin Coolidge Jr. died as a result of blood poisoning not as a result of colored socks next to his feet. Rather he died because played tennis with his brother without wearing socks...and subsequently developed a blister which became infected.

If that's directed towards me, I've found the same thing from multiple sources. :p

Calvin Coolidge - Google Books

Calvin Coolidge by David Greenberg

Quote:

On Monday, June 30, the president's two sons were playing tennis on the White House courts, when sixteen-year-old Calvin Jr., wearing sneakers but no socks, developed a blood blister on the middle toe of his right foot. Two days later, the boy began to feel week and tired. White House doctors examined him. A 102-degree fever, swollen glands, and red streaks on his leg suggested a bacteria infection. The next day, tests confirmed that a staphylococcus had poisoned his bloodstream.
