Please Tell Me This Is The Latest Loser Idea

Ad on back page of new Referee magazine:

"Not Everything is Black and White"...
"Introducing the NEW Multi Color Sonik Blast CMB Pealess Whistles."
"BREAK THE MOLD AND GO BOLD!"

Will a craving for crass individuality overtake our cherished, time-honored tradition of "uniform"?

I can't wait to see the first Bozo step out on a court with a dayglo green style statement clenched between his teeth. I think it might take a few stitches to mend the back of my hand after slapping it out of his mouth.

I'm sure the refette pictured in the ad would be a good official...except for that stupid colored whistle.

Or should I loosen up a bit?

No.

Keep in mind that officials are not the only customers of Fox 40 International or black is the only color used as a sports official. I think it is possible that this is marketed to others we are not thinking of. I did not see the article so I have no idea if this was a basketball official. I think you should probably lighten up a little. ;)

Peace

OK, Sargent Hulka.
I'm over it now.
No I'm not.

I thought they were a bit much, especially if they are to be used in a basketball game.

I'm just a simple Soldier.......

I'm not gonna worry about it.

Until someone above my pay grade, who wants me to referee for them, tells me to go out and purchase a chartreuse whistle, it's not an issue for me.

And, if they do, then that's what I'll do. I don't have to like it and I don't have to take their games if I don't want to.

We already have pink whistles (cancer awareness) and yellow whistles (military tournaments).....whatever.

slightly off topic, but...

any of you guys ever use a pink whistle? most in our association keep a pink whistle/lanyard in our bags, and use them during nat'l breast cancer month. I also ref an annual breast cancer benefit bb tourney, and use them there.

We use the pink whistles when directed for cancer awareness purposes in-line with when our state emphasizes it.

Unfortunately, the whistle I was given (purchased through my Association) doesn't have the Cushioned Mouth Grip - so, I'm not a big fan.

Guess I could go out and buy another one and add it to my growing collection. :o

We raised over $5000 in our association for Cancer Awareness and using the pink whistle campaign. Quite a few of us also donated game fees toward the cause.

Is there some reason companies are coming out with "new" whistles for referees? As far as I'm concerned, the Fox 40 works great. It's a perfect example of the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I think Miss Francis on Ding Dong School was the first one to say that. She was my hero.

You know someone will always come up with an idea that they think will be better than the previous idea. Just the way the world works. The Fox 40 is perfect for me. Do not see a need to use another whistle.

Peace

I watched Romper Room. When the teacher looked through her Magic Mirror and said, "I see Billy out there", I knew that she was talking only about me. There couldn't be any other Billy watching that day? Right?
