David, I was in Israel 24 years ago and loved every minute of my trip. Hopefully the situation will improve there in the near future so that I can return again. Also, both of my kids spent a summer there. Its a wonderful place!

And happy holidays to you too.

Given the ongoing situation I would imagine that a large percentage of the populous carry weapons of some type. Are the spectators allowed to have firearms at a game?

Firedoc
we all pray to the lord that the peace will come to our land but as you can when the situation in our area started to be quieted ,our "little freind "SADAM is wake up....but i believe that it will be o.k...(i hope so..)

Wrong.

RECREF
nobody is alloweded to come in the basketball hall(arena)
with weapon.
imagine what will happend if one of the spectators will not agree with the refrees call....
but i think you exaggerated , because not all the people in israel walks around with weapons, actually most of the people aren't carry any weapon(only soldiers).
p.s
The situation in israel isn't so bad.
when you see israel in you'rs news channels in most of the times it's because something bad happend(terror attack or something like that) but the life in Tel aviv and in most of israel is wonderful and it's no matter what's happen we most continue in our life.we will not surrender to tne rerrorists wishes.

I am glad on this I am wrong. You are correct that the TV and newspaper news we get is not all that good. Plus, several of my co-workers have children on kibbutzs and we get some pretty scary stories now and then. Best of luck

(I'm a baseball ump, but also love basketball, so I come over here once in a while)

Its very true regarding the media-- I was in Jerusalem in 1998, we walked around the city for 2 days as part of a tour. The day we left some guy was stabbed, causing riots, and thats all that was on CNN, like thats all that happens.

Lovely Country, can't wait to go back

Peace

ROMANO,
Let me know when you guys celebrate PURIM. That was a blast. Also, enjoyed your Independence Day celebrations on Ben Yahuda/Jaffa Streets!! Did not know you could have so much fun with squeeky toys and silly string!!
(Heck of a hangover though!!)
