Mark, your dream game may come true

Conversely, if the ship crossed the IDL westward, would the game be over, and would the players have broken curfew?

Mark Padgett

Wait a minute. If they're going to be in international waters, will they have to play by FEEBLE rules? 😕

Obama to attend Michigan State-North Carolina game on aircraft carrier

BillyMac

Last time I saw a basketball game played on an aircraft carrier, the Harlem Globetrotters beat the Washington Generals, and if I recall correctly, Louis Herman "Red" Klotz was still playing for the Generals. I think that the game was broadcast on ABC's Wide World of Sports, back in the 1960's.

When I saw this thread on the front page, I was wondering if the Fed had ruled that overtime is no longer played. 😀

Does it have anything to do with unfurling a "Mission Accomplished" banner?

Yeah, it was the early 60s and they wanted veteran officials. 😛

JugglingReferee

This game is being televised tonight - and right now, on ESPN.

chseagle

North Carolina & Michigan State have Camo Unis, why couldn't the officials??

Mark Padgett

Watched the game yesterday. The teams wore uniforms with modified camo designs. It was really cool and it seemed the military on the ship really enjoyed it. That was the point.

BillyMac

UCONN plays on the carrier next year. That may be the highlight of their 2012-13 season, since they may not be academically eligible for any post season play next year. How embarrassing.

Blech! Didn't care for them myself.

Then again, I don't like most of the uni's the Md Terps football team wears either. 🙄

Obviously, they were doing it to honor the veterans. Good for them.

And, all three of the officials are vets.
