An unusual defender

Had AAU this weekend and there were 3 of us doing an 11th grade semi. The game spread out to an eventual 20 point margin. Losing coach was a sloppily dressed lout. His AC caused him to have a seat partway through the game. The opponent took about 5 charges during the game and was very disciplined. After the game, one partner was done and left, but the two of us who had one game left were behind the table, and said lout comes up to berate the worst officiating he ever saw. We remained silent and didn't even look at him.

The head coach of the varsity program, who was not coaching in the tournament, but was the site manager, told him to knock it off. He continued, and the SM said,"You lost by 20 points. It didn't make THAT much of a difference." He continued. The SM said, "Okay, you're done. Get out of my gym."
He still continued. The SM said, "Don't bother trying to sign up for any more tournaments over here. Get out."

He then said to us, "Never let it be said that I didn't stick up for you guys." He was kind of smiling when he said it, because he can be a real jack-in-the-box during the season. We told him we appreciated what he did. Next game was fine. Ignoring morons is a good policy.

Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement.

Wasn't looking for an endorsement. He was being diplomatic by not questioning his lack of coaching ability or fashion sense. He gave him the boot. That is the point.
