I was asked earlier to share my timer and scorer checklist. I have developed a brief checklist that I use to "pre-game" with them.

Timer & Scorer Responsibilities

Time-outs:
Start the clock upon my direction:
On a full TO: buzz the first horn at 45 seconds elapsed
On a 30 second TO: buzz the “first horn” at 15 seconds elapsed
When we (an official) are reporting the 7th team foul, give a visual reminder that it is a 1 & 1 bonus.
When we are reporting the 10th team foul, give a visual reminder that it is a double bonus.
On alternate possessions place your hand the on display (to acknowledge that you know it is an AP throw-in.)
Subs need to report before “first horn”. Remind players to stay at table until they are beckoned on the court by an official. They will NOT be beckoned onto the court until the last shot of multiple attempt FTs.
Thumbs up on end of game score verification.

Scorer
Record the time (on the game clock) that a TO is granted. Let an official know when a team has one TO remaining.
Track the AP with a running line…. B W B W B W B W

This is not everything, but it gives a good overview. Feel free to contribute more suggestions. :)

I might add to notify an official when a team has used its final timeout.

I like it!!!

Willie,

I like it. The only bad thing about it is that should be everything that a good and dedicated score and time keeper should know!!!

...and it is everything that an old timer will just look at you like you are stupid for trying to tell them something they already know, and they are the first to screw up.

I thought the horn sounds after 20 seconds of the the 30 second time-out in Fed ball.

Nope...NCAA book, BR 44, rule 2-12-9...sound a warning signal 15 seconds before the expiration of an intermission or charged time-out...
