Missed BC violation in NIT Championship
There was another missed backcourt violation by NCAA officials during tournament play. This time it happened in the NIT championship game.
It didn't alter the outcome because Wichita was already up 64-52 with 2:17 left. A Wichita player is holding the ball near the division line when a defender bats it out of his hands and up into the air. The Wichita player now jumps up and taps the ball into the backcourt, then runs across the division line and retrieves it. (One can see the Alabama coach jumping up and down near his bench, which is very amusing.) The Trail is looking right at the action and doesn't whistle the violation. Instead he makes some motion with his arm and let's it go. I can only conclude that he simply doesn't know the rule. How sad. |

I saw the play too and wondered what the T would say about his "signal" when he saw it on film? What was that?
