I just watched minesotta-portland game and have a question after this one play..Player A shoots. The ball bounces off the rim and goes in the air above the rim. Player A1 from the Wolves jumps and hangs on the rim for a second. The ball doesn't go in. No call.
Legal or illegal? |
I have an nba rule book, but don't find anything directly addressing the play. I probably think that the call was right, but I didn't see the play. Was the ball in the cylinder? etc..

Yes. Anthony, i believe, shot it, it flew up in the air right above the rim. A foul was then called on him (Anthony) and the guy from Wolves jumped up and hanged on to the rim, not aloowing a 3-pt play by that..
Ref didn't call anything, but both commentators and Mike Dunleavy said it was inteference. |
I didn't see the play but believe that if the ball was not in the rim, nor affected by the minnesota player that the refs made a good "no call". It didn't affect the ball from going in...if the ball hit the rim while his hands were on the rim...yes, interference...as well as if the ball struck the rim as it was returning to its original position...otherwise...good interpretationof the rules in NBA playoff basketball.
