Unc/uk

Now that was a "play on the ball" while chasing down the player with a clear path (advantageous position) :D

BktBallRef Sun Mar 27, 2011 04:50pm

Absolutely terrible PC call by Pat Driscoll at the 59.9 mark on Harrison Barnes. You would think a D-1 Regional Championship official would know a flop when he sees it. C'mon Pat, you gotta be better than that.

I agree with his assessment of the play in question. It was definitely a flop.

Officiating has been pretty good, other than that call. As Bill Walton would say, "HOOOOORIBLE!" :)

Pantherdreams Sun Mar 27, 2011 06:04pm

I've seen some questionable footwork both ways in this game but you aren't going to get a travel call on anyone today.

BktBallRef Sun Mar 27, 2011 06:09pm

There's plenty of uncalled travels in every collegiate game.

Jurassic Referee Sun Mar 27, 2011 06:12pm

Officiating wasn't a factor in either game today imo.

As always, I'm waiting for APG to come through with a YouTube clip. Until then I am silent on the subject. :D

Good amount of plays from today.

How about the UNC shot attempt at the top of the circle after Kentucky sank the 3 to go ahead 73-69? {Unless that play was just before they got the 3, I cannot recall the sequence}.

I already have the time noted for that play. :D

Did you post it? It looked like the Tarheel got mauled on the shot, but they only kept replaying the 3 and how close to the line the shooter was.

Not yet...I'll probably have some plays from the VCU vs. Kansas game up later tonight and the UK vs. UNC in the early morning. I do know what play you're talking about (UNC 3 at the top of the key when they went down four points).

That's the one. Then they HAD to foul and it was game over.

Can you tell me where I can find the clause stating that there cannot be illegal contact even though a player "flops?" ;)

I only use the term "flop" when the contact by the player in motion is not illegal. APG understands me. We have bonded over these videos.

The accepted definition of a "flop" is faking contact when there is very minimal or no contact.

Watch out, you'll be told you don't have a sense of humor very shortly.

About an hour away. Shoot down US 13 toward Fayetteville, turn left on James Dail Road just before you get to I-95, take the next left, and turn right at the stop sign. Carolina mailbox...can't miss it!

There is no such statement. There was also no contact, just the defender extending his forearms toward Barnes cut and then flopping backwards.

Pizza....better hurry, 3 slices left.

Haha...you're right. :D The play in question though, the player embellished contact that in of itself was not illegal and the official bought it. Not the first time in history, won't be the last.
