OT - International Basketball League

Somehow I got on the e-mailing list for the local team in the IBL (International Basketball League), a pro minor league. I just received their pre-season email. The local team is the Oregon Waves. I plan on going to a few of their games for three reasons. First - their star player is David Lucas (yes - he's one of the late Maurice Lucas' boys) and I've known David since I reffed his games here in our local kids rec league. David has led that league in scoring two out of the last four seasons (over 37 ppg). Second - they play their games at a gym only about 15 minutes from my house. Third - their games are fun to watch because they limit the timeouts to one per quarter and they have "immediate" throw-ins. The games are in May and June followed by their playoffs.

For more info, the league website is ibl.com.

Gee - I wonder if they need any officials?

Per: International Basketball League

Please note that there are very few if any referee spots for the 2011 season as the league has a few less teams.

There's also a lot of outdated information on the league website. For instance, the Oregon team now plays at The Hoop in Beaverton, not at Warner-Pacific college and they are showing photos of players (some are former NBE players) who are no longer playing in this league.

I'm going to go to some of their games anyway.
