Eat/drink for five games

I have five youth games this weekend (middle-school level, boys). Usually, I just consume mass quantities of water and/or G2 to keep me going, but I'm wondering what others may take in to keep pace for five consecutive games.

(Aside from the obvious Advil at day's end.)

Methamphetamine. Send Mark Padgett your bank account number, and PIN, and he'll FedEx some overnight to you.

Ditto the granola bars. They work great and also help me balance my blood sugar levels during a run of games. Plus, try some little packs of cracker "sandwiches" with cheese inside.

Oh yeah, BillyMac was wrong. It's not your bank account number and PIN, it's your debit card number and PIN. There's a difference.

BTW - this is the last weekend of rec games for me this season and it's a fairly easy one. Just a single BV game on Friday night and a B7 and a B6 game on Saturday. I'll probably sleep through these. Then we have our annual ref pizza party on Saturday after games. Won't sleep through that, however.

We'll skip the card and go right to the balance... INSUFFICIENT FUNDS.

BTW, what are your opinions on those five/six hour energy drinks? I've tried them, but I have to wonder if they're basically effective via placebo.

love the five hour energy drinks. on long days ref'ng i'll have a couple...if only two games, always one between games. i know a lot of people don't think they do much, but i get a definite boost.

also have multiple bananas on game days.

Tastes Great, Less Filling ...

For all you guys who are watching your weight, and yet, still want to drink one of those sports drinks to replenish electrolytes, I recently discovered Powerade Zero. It has no calories and has Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium, and Calcium.

Obvious to whom? Do you routinely need/take something like this after multiple games? What's the problem? Do others do this?

After 5 games I wouldn't rule out taking some.

Advil is a staple in my referee bag that goes to every game.

You mean you haven't seen the pictures of giant Advil bottles on this forum?

I typically don't take any pain reliever medication with me, but I occassionally do when I get home.

(Billy, I like Powerade Zero, too. I'll have to find out who has the best deal on them here. Probably not Circle K.)

Note to those who do take Advil, take it BEFORE your game.

A few years ago, I was having various lower leg and foot issues after I returned form a major knee surgery. I found that if I took just one dose of Advin before the game, I had no problems afterwards. But, If I waited until afterwards, the Advil would reduce the pain but the pain would persist for 2-3 days even if I kept taking Advil on the recommended schedule. The preventative ability of Advil (anti-inflammatory) is where it really worked best....not the pain reliever.
