Does anyone know who to contact at the NBA about becoming an NBA official? I have done about 6 years of rec leagues and 5 of HS. I'm just trying to feel the process out and see if I want to pursue it. I've contacted all of the Collegiate Governing bodies about getting involved in college basketball and I am just trying to see which game, college or pro,I would be best for me to pursue.I tried nba.com but there are no link to any officials pages.

I am certainly not an expert on "moving up" but I believe that it is a long process which requires skills and a good deal of luck. You really need to go to camps and hopefully be "discovered" by someone who does assigning at the junior college level or its equivalent. Remember that the vast majority of officials out there will never move to a much higher level (beyond the varsity high school). But it is always good to dream.

Being an NBA ref has nothing to do with any other level. You have to go to the NBA's camps and Referee Schools in order to get considered. If you are considered you might start in their developmental leagues or get some consideration in the CBA or ABA depending on who is at your school. You can go the college route, but it is not going to guarantee you anything. You still will have to go thru the hoops that the NBA sets and go from there. Also, the NBA usually is looking for canadites that have a good competitive background. They are not just looking for officiating experience alone.

Peace
