At 2:49 on a rebound, Lindsay (who was the L) calls a foul against SH. Greene (from the T) comes in and calls a jumpball (SH with the possession arrow). Lavin is upset and perceives that Green overruled Lindsey.

After a possession by each team (in which SH scores twice and SJ doesn't score), Lavin calls a TO at 1:55 and begins his screaming at Lindsay, "Why did you let him (Greene) over you?" and then a barrage of "You Suck...."

Then Lavin doesn't leave the court immediately and even has his team huddle around him for at least 30 seconds. Cahill and then Green go over to the huddle where Lavin continues to yell a bit.

What got me a little perturbed was watching Greene shake Lavin's hand before he leaves the court.

I know I would be upset if anyone on my crew shook the hands of a coach that I just ejected.

Billy, a picture is worth a thousand words. Video is worth 30,000 words per second.

He says (yells) "why did you let him over rule you"; Unless Lavin was on him the whole time (since the jump ball), I thought it was a quick T. The second T was well deserved.

Yes very strange how they allowed Lavin to coach through the time out.

The Flagrant foul was a good call. In my opinion, with little time on the clock Seton Hall should have not attempted a shot up by 12. I think the St John's player out of frustration reacted (wrongly) to the dunk attempt.

...

I don't consider it a quick T when the HC walks literally to the middle of the court to yell at an official.

Just my observation.

+1, he definitely was taunting.

Are you serious? Lavin went almost all the way across the court to yell at the official! And you consider that to be a quick T?

As for the second T and ejection - very much deserved.

Flagrant and ejection - very much deserved.

Hopefully the Conference office will get involved and hand down a couple of suspensions - one to Lavin and one to the player.

OP title: "nasty ending..."

Nasty? Nah. All part of a day's work.

The officials did great, so it wasn't nasty at all. If players and coaches want to eject themselves, they're entitled to do so. :)

Lavin wanted to go...his team was playing like crap. I'm not sure he should be suspended. To me, it looked like he said the magic words to get his team going.

As for the player, something should come down.

Why should it be any different for the player? He was just emulating what his coach showed him.

I have lost track of how many times I have seen this video and it is my favorite baseball ejection video.

I would like to see the NFHS add that signal this summer.

What do others think?

Two fists in the air is the signal for a disqualifying foul used up here. It's a FIBA mechanic but fittingly it signals the universal cheer "Yes, Your outta Here! ;)"
