It's not a referee's responsibility to enforce a rule that's in the book?

One is a school issue taken up with the state and doesn't fall under our jurisdiction in WI. Wearing a lanyard is not a rule...but a requirement in the manual...and if you worked without a lanyard properly I wouldn't have an issue at all.

We notify the state and the state takes up the issue with that school. I have not heard about this being an issue in WI.

Gotcha. You made it sound like WI referees didn't care about or are supposed to ignore the uniform rule.

I am guessing most officials can't tell you if the uniforms legal or illegal.

This is why I think this comparison is faulty. We do a lot of things that are never going to be in any manual, but if you want to work you will do them.

Peace

So, you do care. Otherwise why the requirement to report it to the state office?

And in VA a black lanyard or "smitty" is listed as part of the official uniform for the state tournament. Now, I have no idea what effect on an official's state tourney career not having a lanyard would have.

Actually...
If rolling up your sleeves accents the belt you are wearing...

Besides, the sleeves get in the way when you are shooting baskets during intermissions.
