Can you elaborate on this a bit?

The question specifically refers to these school uniforms not complying with specific rules guidelines, where, in the past there have been severe penalties or refs have chosen to look the other way - hence a discussion has ensued.

What does that have to do with lanyards and referee dress codes, probably established locally?

And if you do not care or enforce these rules here, you might not be working much of those at all.

Peace

Were they using these before a rule change or something? I don't get how the waiver process works.

what makes the uniform illegal? Is it that the school name is above and below the number?

Usually something handled through the state association. Also, usually something that doesn't come up until state tournament time when you have state observers at games and officials working teams they haven't seen all season.

I'm thinking "who cares?" is not the proper answer an official should give if asked by an observer at the game.

they ask the state (IL), and the state issues one. The list of schools with a waiver is on the officials' portion of the ihsa web-site

the stripes. The torso needs to be a single solid color.

It was assumed when the North Lawndale situation happen that this was just a problem in certain schools or maybe areas. Last year there were almost 100 schools that had illegal uniforms and in order not to have a T every game, if a uniform was illegal the IHSA asked officials to file a Special Report if they believed the uniforms were illegal and in many cases schools the schools were given one. Schools do not buy uniforms every year and many are on a cycle of purchases for uniforms every 3 or 4 years so the waiver process changed how games would be played without them.

Peace
