Yup, that officials meeting was a trip.

As far as pregames go, the officials manual has a good checklist as to what to go over. If you don't have that, I'm sure BillyMac will be along to paste a pregame.

Or you could use the Search Tool at the top of the Forum and search Pre-Game. I'm sure there's just a few there.

I was actually complemented by one of my partners yesterday for my standard captains' spiel:

"Guys, if we're talking to you, we're trying to help you. So please listen. If you have a problem with each other, don't take it to him [pointing at opposing players], bring it to us and we'll listen, I promise. It's post-season and we don't want to toss somebody for doing something dumb, so let us handle it. Shirts in, elbows in, have a great game."

Quick search for pre-games came up with several links. Here are a couple:

What did he add to your spiel??
Did the players pay any more attention to his comments than they did for yours?

As these are all good things to do for a pregame meeting with the captains. Normally at the NIRSA tournaments you are giving a pregame speech about sportmanship you are suppose to read. Also, check with your clinicians about anything special they want you to cover regading rules and certain things.

I remember doing those back when I was college, I went a lot of time to the Northeast at Boston Uninversity or the Mid-Atlantic at University of Maryland regionals had a blast learned a lot and also earned a few trips to the National Tournament.

Most important have fun with it and try to learn and with your pregame try to keep it consistant through out the tournament for both Men's and Women's team!
