End of season game counts

Finished my 3rd season on Tuesday with a total of 71 games, 24V ( 1 playoff), 31 JV, 14 FR and 2 middle school.

How'd everyone else end up?

26 Year Gap Thu Feb 24, 2011 07:01pm

Haven't added them up, but I suspect I was between 40 & 50 again.

JRutledge Thu Feb 24, 2011 07:10pm

I am around 50-55 games I believe. Again the season is not over and I have not considered the post season.

Peace

Scuba_ref Thu Feb 24, 2011 08:04pm

I'm ready for a break

23 middle school
15 sub varsity
36 varsity
74 total games

3rd most in our association with the most being 80 games. I don't do any spring or summer sports so I have a nice break until football starts up.

McMac Thu Feb 24, 2011 08:20pm

15 DH MS
2 MS B Playoffs
1 DH JV

Adam Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:53pm

Wait, 3 5th grade games.

Mechanicsman Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:09pm

It is not over yet, thank God! I think I might be depressed when it is all over. :(

MOofficial Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:11pm

Still have two weeks left in the season but pending no new playoff assignments coming these are my totals:

College: 24
Varsity:76
JV:4
JH:28

Bad Zebra Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:13pm

30 Varsity

7 post season
44 total...about my average.

constable Fri Feb 25, 2011 03:04am

Haven't had time to count but I suspect I'm close to if not over 100. I'll probably add another 50 to that by the time the club ball season wraps up.

amusedofficial Fri Feb 25, 2011 03:31am

In addition to the usual seasonal schedule, I did about a dozen charity type games, spread over three events this year. All were games where the local refs group agreed to help out. In one, we were helping ourselves since it was a tourney/fundraiser that helped finance the league that financed the fees for a season of ball.

My point isn't becoming a martyr, it's just to note that working charity/benefit things is becoming increasingly more fun; they are usually played in big gyms with three to four cross-court games, rotating shifts of officials, very few officials have an agenda, the sponsoring organization usually has a few teams entered so they show uncommon respect, they buy us coffee early and pizza after the games so we can sit and yak with guys from before and after our games and complain about kids rec league tournament coaches, gossip about assignors, compare notes on hot moms, and brag.

jTheUmp Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:42am

Right now I have exactly 100 games (including 8 upcoming).

52 rec league games (14 adult, 38 youth).
14 Junior High
34 High school (9th, "B", and JV)

No varsity yet, but I'm only a second-year basketball official.

Haven't received my rec league schedule yet for March, so I'll probably add another 15 or so games there.

Terrapins Fan Fri Feb 25, 2011 11:57am

I did -

19 HS Varsity ( 1 playoff )
18 JV
13 middle school

16 HS church league ( 4 play offs 2 different leagues )
3 Middle school Church league

69 games Total

that's a slow year for me.

A knee injury sustained towards the end of last season, ignored until summer, and finally engaged with surgery this January, has kept me off the court this year.

bob jenkins Fri Feb 25, 2011 01:12pm

About 86 games, all except 1 HS Varsity and above (the 1 was a soph-var DH).

dsqrddgd909 Fri Feb 25, 2011 03:42pm

21 dates, 41 games.

6 youth travel, 12 jr. high, 9 freshmen, 11 JV, 3 V.

zm1283 Fri Feb 25, 2011 04:48pm

61 Varsity games (Including two games next Tuesday in a district tourney)
26 JV games (All of those are attached to a V game as a DH)

Funny, I'm in the low 50s right now and it feels like a busy season.

bigdog5142 Fri Feb 25, 2011 05:58pm

Right around 40 games for me...got about 12-14 varsity games this year...most yet. Movin' on up! :)

CaRef5 Sat Feb 26, 2011 03:51am

hmmm i think my total is between 100-110 (Dec-End of February)

This total is compromised of Middle School, High School and College assignments.

I would do multiple games daily and even more games on the weekends (perhaps that is why my total is so high :D )

what can i say, i'm addicted!

junruh07 Sat Feb 26, 2011 10:50am

This season, I worked 70 ms/hs games, with four varsity contests. To date, I have worked 13 intramural games. That season will go another month, and since the ms/hs season is over, that number will increase rather quickly. I will graduate college this spring and move to a different area, so I will not get as many games next year.

grunewar Sat Feb 26, 2011 05:53pm

My Rec Season's not quite over yet and I know I have at least 12 more Rec Games over the next two weeks (ooh, playoffs ;)). So far:

16 = V
8 = JV
2 = F
38 Rec games

Guess I'll end up with ~ 75 (Only lost a few snow games this yr....not like last yr!) :(

JugglingReferee Sat Feb 26, 2011 06:59pm

84 games so far.

31 HS - mostly V with a few JV
4 men's league
27 elementary games
22 club games in weekend tournaments

Raymond Sat Feb 26, 2011 08:00pm

I don't work a lot compared to most on here. I only did 2 rec games and I don't do any HS games below Varsity except for an occasional JV/V DH. Work and family limit my schedule. Had my last assigned game this afternoon. It was by far my worst blow-out of the season but was memorable for me as my first ever collegiate crew chief assignment.

I'm with you there. Although I'm not sure my wife would agree that I have a good "work/life/referee" balance. :o

I changed jobs this past season and was not able to take as many HS games as in previous yrs. But, that's ok, as the quality of my games far outweighed the quantity this past season.

In this calendar yr, I'll probably get 150 games in as I am able to go most of the yr......

cmhjordan23 Sun Feb 27, 2011 12:31am

170 games. Includes M.S., H.S. and Adult Men's league. There are times on a Saturday when I am doing anywhere between 4-8 M.S. games.

I worked a quarter of a JV game for a guy who pulled a hammy while I was lounging in our locker room.

Besides that, I worked about 50 HS V games and 5 juco games. I have no desire to be anything other than a HS basketball official. But I'd rather stay home with the family than work a FR or JV game.

referee99 Sun Feb 27, 2011 10:27am

The count is in

... barring some late playoff adds...

Total HS: 86 Games 57 Varsity 29 JV/Frosh 3 playoff games

Actually got my game count down, worked 108 HS games last year. 55/53
