Two Darks Don't Make a White

Saw a pic in the Tampa Tribune today of the state 3A girls semi. Both teams had dark jerseys. Looking at the FHSAA site, Tampa Catholic was deemed to be the home team. I wonder if there was a jump ball to start the game or not. Does anyone here know?

Neutral court game???

So it's possible rule is waived.

Not sure. It was a state semi and all of those games and the finals are on a neutral court. There could have been confusion on who was home, although it is pretty clearly outline on their website.

Are you trying to out-Billy Billy?

In our state this would be a T to the "Home Team." Even if the so-called Home Team is playing the real Home Team.

Peace

It should be a T. But, I am *not* sure that it was. The previous game was on Saturday night, so there was plenty of time to get the laundry done.

However, there may have been a ruling by FHSAA representatives that may have directed the officials to not assess one.

And I have no problem with that position either. I just know that there was a situation here where we asked what we should do and that was the remedy suggested that was going to be acceptable.

Peace

There is an FHSAA coach's video that must be viewed for all teams advancing to the state finals. In it, they instruct every team to bring both home AND away uni's. Can't imagine why they wouldn't have their whites. I'll be interested to hear the reason.

I have a meeting in Lakeland on Sunday. I will see if anyone there might have some insight.

And the answer is...

...apparently, despite the video sent to coaches, this is a frequent occurrence in Lakeland. And, it is NOT penalized. This from someone in my association who attends all girls & boys semis and finals that are held there. So, if I am ever fortunate enough to go there before I hang up my whistle, I will know enough to NOT be THAT GUY.

My sons and I liked that one, especially because it is better than making a U-turn, :D.

You would hate driving in FL full time then. U-turns are a way of life.

Consitently inconsistent...that's the FHSAA. Why bother mentioning it in the video, then? The funny/sad part in all this is that they are probably a lot less forgiving of what the OFFICIALS are wearing than the players. The closer I get to a trip to Lakeland, the more it seems like it's a mystery as to what goes on there.
