Your approach
How do you prepare for working a post-season contest on foreign ground with an official who is known for whacking/tossing coaches & fans?
You’re the least experienced (by years) but you’re in the leadership position & you just want to work well as a crew without all the other bs that you have witnessed personally & through the testimony of others. |
Holy crap. If it is at all possible, I'll be there tomorrow. :D
|
HEY - if you don't want to work with me, just say so.

LOL ~ I'm a firm believer of the, "if you don't look good then I don't look good" concept. How do I discuss this without offending anyone?

Makes sense, thanks!

In response to both the title of the thread and your question (with golf season on my mind).
Your approach: Layup and get on the green, in enough to save par. Going for it all in situations like this is almost never going to work out. Play the situation, not your ego. |

Just be a good partner and have a good pre-game. What they do with a coach is really not your concern other than what you do after a T (which you should talk about any game you work anyway). All you do is be on the same page and work your game. If you are a person on a board, just be professional. Not sure what you should worry about. Deal with them like they have to deal with you and work together.

Appreciate the advice, but I never said he was a bad official or that I didn't know him. We've worked a handful of sanctioned games together over the years (never one of this magnitude) and each time he has:
a. Whacked a coach b. Tossed a coach c. Tossed a fan d. All of the above He's actually a pretty good play-caller! Rabbit ears, failure to communicate & taking things too personal, are the areas I was speaking on. Like most here have said, that is not my concern though. I cannot control that so we will handle it accordingly when & if we get to that bridge. Thanks again! |

Now we will not know any of this as we do not see him talking about what he thinks of you. ;) Peace |
