Adam Nevadaref wroteNope, it's live when caught by the shooter and remains live during the entire FT. Stop saying incorrect information. and unnecessary
bob jenkins Snaqwells wroteand unnecessary Agreed. "That Guy" says, "Bonus. 1 and 1. Play the miss. Let it hit." Just administer the damn FT so we can get back to the game. Anything beyond the number of throws is an unnecessary delay.
Adam Oh, in regards to the OP, I do the last one. Under the elbow, flash the signal as I say "one and one," bounce the ball and get out of the way.
Raymond MelbRef wroteWhat do you do with the ball when administering a 1-and-1? What I've seen: - hold ball in hands with index fingers extended - same as above, ball between wrists - bounce the ball, signal 1-and-1, catch ball - hold ball under one arm/elbow, signal 1-and-1 What is "correct"? You should really ask your interpreter and/or assignor how they want it done--or if they even care.
Scrapper1 I worked with a guy this year who did something I'd never seen before. He held the ball in one hand and then with the other hand, he pointed with one finger to one end of the free throw line and then the other end of the free throw line, while saying the "one-and-one". I thought it looked interesting, but it's nowhere near the "correct" mechanic.

Raymond Snaqwells wroteHmmm. May as well use the "hook 'em horns" or "hang ten" signals. Which is what I do. But I rotate my hand back and forth a couple times when doing it.

But, since that won't happen, I say "1 AND 1" while holding the ball and showing index fingers at that time. No repeats. No commentary about lane entry. No telling my partner his shoe is untied. I just try to move it along as quickly as I can.
BillyMac bob jenkins wrote"That Guy" says, "Let it hit." At least "That Guy" has it right. Wrong, but right. I've had partners who say, "Let it hit the rim". Wrong, and wrong.
