D1 forfeit

A fight Monday night leads to a team forfeiting its game this Saturday.

The officials suspended the game at the time of the fight and let the league/teams handle the outcome. Right decision by the officials imo.

Yeah, they really had no choice. From what I hear the brawl got pretty bloody and both benches cleared during the fight so they wouldn't have had any players left to finish the game. Haven't heard yet how they are going to handle playing the remainder of the game.

If it's a forfeit, there is no remainder.

No, it wasn't a forfeit. The status of the suspended game has yet to be decided.

Their next scheduled game is a forfeit b/c all their players have been suspended for one game. The conference suspended 4 players but the school's internal investigation led to an in-house suspension of remainder of the team members.

Involvement

Attached news account reports game officials (along with security and others) helped end the bruhaha. With apparently ALL players from BOTH benches involved, at what point as officials do we get the heck outta there and NOT be involved in trying to break up that many fighters? I haven't seen the video, but sounds like they would h ave been outnumbered and had their hands quite full.

I wouldn't bail. But I would definitely stay a good distance away from the violence. From what I hear no fans got involved. That's the point where I would probably retreat, if fans started coming on the court.

I thought I had seen everything in forty years of officiating, BECAUSE this was a women's game!

Looks like the suspended game was replayed from the beginning at a neutral court. No mention of the suspended game in article. No idea what the status of the rosters was for the replay.
