Coach calls for a full timeout. I report to the table 'full timeout', and go to the block. About 15 seconds into the timeout, the coach that called the timeout, I guess realizes that I called for a full timeout and starts yaking that he only wanted a 30 second timeout. I go to the huddle and explain that's what I thought he signaled for and he's stuck with the full timeout.
Was I correct? Or should I changed it to a 30 second timeout?

Yes, you were correct.

I do my best to ask if a coach is requesting a full or 30 when they don't specify, however I am only asking a couple times before its going to the book as a full.

IMO if they don't specify it is a full. Love it or loathe it.

If it looks like a 30 I'll report it as a 30. Later in the game I might ask the table if the team has any 30's left and if so I give them a 30.

I've been fortunate this year in that most teams I've had have an assistant who gets the information to me right away.
