I am having trouble with the ruling in 10.6.1B Part b considering what is specified in 4-23-4+5.
Could some of you experts elaborate?

Jurassic Referee Tue Nov 12, 2002 09:39am

What exactly is the problem? In CB 10.6.1SitB(b),A1 is no longer an airborne player after one foot hits. Therefore, because A1 had the ball from a pass,R4-23-4a is the applicable rule.R4-24-4b isn't applicable because A1 is no longer airborne, and R4-24-5 isn't applicable because A1 has the ball. .

The problem is that ruling would be very tough sell to the coach if it is a bang-bang play, especially when you know the player moved while he was in the air.
I guess by analogy if airborne shooter A1 trys for goal and while he is in the air B1 moves to get position where he will land, if A1 gets one foot down before contacting B1 upon returning to the floor and the try is successful, it counts and the foul on A1 is not a player-control foul, but a charging foul. Do you agree JR?

Agree-just a personal foul.Call it if he knocks the defender over.Ignore it if the contact is fairly minimal.Be aware if the ball has gone through the basket before the contact-i.e.dead ball. That's what I look for.

Recently a very wise gentleman gave me some damn
good advice. His words to me were essentially this:

"Just get the f***ing play right, @sshole. That's all you
need to worry about."

Now I've passed them on to you.

Gee, why would you say that? ;)
Nope, not him, although I think Edgar would surely agree
with the message as well as the style. :)

Nope, paid $0. Which is what made it so valuable.

"Tough to sell the coach"-heck he diagrees with 50% of the call you make against his team. I'm not worring about selling him--if he does not know the rules that his problem.

OK Dan...here's the next 5 questions in our little game...so who was it that gave this advice? Was it a coach? If so, did you T him or go straight to ejection? If a partner, did you have a suitably nasty reply? If an evaluator, did you nod your head and say "Yes sir, I understand."

I said a wise gentleman, which eliminates this possibility http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/lolup.gif

Looks like Dan re-discovered the <s>ultimate time-wasting</s> website! http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/party.gif Cheers, Dan! http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/cheers.gif

Oops. It's the Ultimately Pointless website! Just thought I'd clarify.
