Pink

Just got an email from the home AD of our game tonight:
"So everyone knows, our varsity girls will be wearing their pink cancer uniforms for tonight's varsity contest..."
A reasonable person would assume this is okay, I'd suppose. Is that assumption correct?

Better safe than sorry

Check with your assigner, if applicable. Contact the state otherwise.

Had an AD email me saying he wanted his small school girls game called tight.

Checked with the boss... NOPE!

Had an AD email me saying his team would be in Orange as opposed to White.

Checked with the boss, who checked with the Commish... YUP!

Orange Home Jerseys ...

We had a boys high school varsity team wearing orange jerseys at home at the beginning of the season. Our interpreter, and our commissioner, both told us to start the game with a technical foul.

From my unpublished article:

Technical fouls for illegal uniforms (including illegal numbers) are not charged to the team, but are charged directly to the head coach. If a team member participates as a player while wearing an illegal uniform, then a direct technical foul is charged to the head coach, who will lose the coaching box privilege for the remainder of the game. This infraction is penalized when discovered, and the team member with the illegal uniform may participate without further penalty and is not required to change the number. A maximum of one technical foul shall be charged directly to the head coach regardless of the number of offenders.

I'd guess they found some white uniforms after a couple of games.

In Virginia those things are cleared with the state. The state rep has stated that if you show up at the game and everything is pink to assume that everything is kosher.

I might "assume" everything is ok or been approved, but maybe not Kosher. That's a stretch! ;)

The Purpose of the Authenticating Mark is to insure equipment conforms to NFHS rules and requirements for contest played under the NFHS rules. It helps to promote a level playing field by assuring consistency in the equipment being used in NFHS sanctioned interscholastic competition.

An interesting question - I don't know and never checked. No one complained.

Another Brick in the Wall

The Pink Game came and went. The players played, the coaches coached, the fans fanned, and all was right with the world.
I had a black whistle.

Personally, I think it's silly that we would make a fuss when we understand they are supporting breast cancer research.

Realistic verse legalistic.....

Not sure you want to start a breast cancer pink zone game with a technical foul....

Around here, we would get that message from the association leadership. "Hey guys, just remember, CHSAA has cleared xxx school to wear pink unis for their home game on xx/xx/xx for the cancer thing."
