Bad day?

Okay, rough start to today...

*03:15 AM, my cell phone rings. It's a division of my company. Internet access is down, and all necessary information isn't accessible. It's like that way until 5:00ish.

*8:20 AM, my car's front axle breaks, right on an I-95 off-ramp. I call my boss that I'll miss some morning meetings. I get a $48 tow to my mechanic, who gives me a ride to work.

*9:30 AM, I call my wife, who's unhappy that she'll have to give up "her" car tonight. (We both own both cars, but you know what I mean.)

Is it a bad day? Hell, no! It's still game day.

Well done, Bainesy. If you're not in writing, you're in the wrong business.

Bad days.

Park on street cleaning day, missed sign $55
Park on street with front of car sticking out in driveway. Owner of garage calls for tow. $481.75 to free car, $95 ticket for blocking driveway
Turnback game for day -$65 game fee.
Worked for free to pay for towing fee, missed game......well, today is game day!:o

Not too long ago: $53 game fee, tagged for speeding on the way out of town - $50 fine - net: $3 - minus expenses...
Yeah, those days happen.
But today's my birthday, and nuthin's gonna mess it up for me!

Fifty bucks for speeding? That's a three-figure deal in this corner!

Years ago. Game site 15 minutes from work. Very low-level Boys private school game. Change at work because game site has no locker room. Couple of last minute things pop up at work so I'm running late, won't get to game until about 25-30 minutes before tip-off. On the drive over, stop and go traffic b/c of construction on 2-lane road. Totally my fault I rear end car in front of me. :o More damage to my car than hers; we both have same insurance company so info exchange goes quickly. Get to game site about 10 minutes before game time. Walk in gym. Girls basketball team is having practice.

Boys game was re-scheduled for some reason and assignor never got the word to me.

At least I got paid.

That makes up for a lot right there.

Correction. It's a sub-frame. More expensive, but the conclusion still stands.

(I believe I've left myself wide open for a "fixed it for ya...")

If I hand't virtually destroyed my axle last Thursday night in a snow/ice storm, I'd be tempted.

Now that just made my day. :D

Now to pray for those poor pygmies, pigmies, pigmii, and any other non-Kosher indigenous tribes.

Final update: The broken sub-frame took out the axle (stripped it) and another part. With the two new tires, wiper blades, and inspection sticker (which was due this month anyway), I spent a grand on this one.

I need another game day. :(

At least you weren't hurt. AND you missed a bunch of meetings.

I had a day like that, kinda.

A long time back I was out trapping wolves. This involved taking my boat about 20 miles to a distant island. After arriving at an island with logging roads, I tied to a small dock that connected to the logging road with a ramp. I lowered my 4wheeler on the dock with my winch and headed out to check my traps. Well, about 3 miles down the road, I remembered that I forgot my handheld VHF radio so I drove back to the boat to get it. I drove down the ramp and left the 4wheeler running while I jumped back on the boat and grabbed my radio off the galley table. Just as I got out on the deck with the radio, I see my 4wheeler going off the dock right into the water!! Holy &*(&%*&^(*)(!!@! I left it idling like I've done 50 times, but for some reason it slowly rolled right off the dock. It flips over and is now floating upside down with just the tires sticking up. After an hour of dorking around I get the 4wheeler beside the boat and winch it aboard. Drain the water out, change oil etc. It won't start, I drive back to town hours later for my upcoming game. Get docked up, start driving to town for game. Truck runs out of gas! Gas tank has rusted out! Of course I didn't know it was out of gas, since I had just filled it the day before so I waste a bunch of time trying to get it started. Discover problem so I walk 4 miles to the house, (miss the game, luckily it was 3man and I told one of my partners I was going out and might be late) As I enter the house at about 7:00, wife says, did you get your mother a birthday present? (All the stores are closed by now.) Yep, bad day.
