Yeah, that too, but I'll bet you a nickel this stupid parent happens to be a lawyer. ;)

Since this happened in Canada, wouldn't this be a "Stupid Barrister Trick"?

Oh yeah, Canadian. Isn't "stupid Canadian" redundant? :D

Hey Dan Ref, as one of the Canadians who uses this forum, I find your comment neither funny nor appropriate.

I must comment that Canadian lawsuits are not as common as they are down south. However, I live in New Brunswick and I have seen so many parents who think their sons are going to be the next Gretzky that this does not surprise me.

The father's argument is that his son won the scoring title, thus he should automatically be the MVP. Anyone who known anything about sports knows that this type of thinking is flawed.

If his son quits hockey because of this, he wasn't playing for the right reason.

What can you expect from a guy who practises canine defrenestration? The man simply has no couth(or other redeeming qualities)!

Can we vote him off the island?

defren...defrenestr...def...wha?

anyway, it's the dog who has no more couth, mine are still attached. :D

BTW, he got into the garbage last week and got sick as
a...well, a dog. Poor pup is just recovering but he's
still on a light diet.

Jay R: it's a joke my friend, don't take it personally.
Some of my best friends are Canadian, although none are
lawyers. Feel free to vote me off if it makes you feel better. :)

Btw,I got a joke for Woody....

-"Did you hear about the Canadian who married a Golden retriever?"
-"He had to!"

Should I put a "smilie" somewhere in this post?Or is it not necessary?

I called somebody a pinko-commie, tree-hugging Canadian-sympathizer and I didn't get blasted. I guess it's ok to insult Canadian sympathizers, but not the Canadians themselves. :)

It must also be okay to insult pinko-commie, tree huggers as well.

Here's another one:

How many pinko-commie, tree hugger liberals does it take to screw in a light bulb?

None, that's the government's job.

ChuckElias Fri Nov 08, 2002 11:14am

You know, back to the original topic for a moment. It is sad if the kid really did quit b/c he was "humiliated" by not winning the award. The lawsuit is obviously just as sad. Instead of telling his kid that hard work always brings rewards, he should have told him that hard work is its own reward. It's a cliche, but very often true. Or he could've used my most recent email tagline:

“Dignity does not consist in possessing honors, but in deserving them.”
