Longest Travel

Officiate in New Hampshire..last night was a long one..left my house at 1:45PM and return at 11:30PM. Officiated a GV and BV game in the Northern most school in NH. Whats is the longest some of you have traveled?

In my last association, we had a couple of schools that were 2 hour drives through dinosaur territory (barren high desert). At one, we would work the JV games then two varsity games. We'd leave (from a central location in town) around 1:00 and get home around 11:30 or so. My first time there, my JVG game went into 2OT.

No, doubt. Colebrook is 2nd. Then Stratford, but I don't think they are fielding a team this year/

I travelled from Chicago to Pensacola to work about 6 or 8 baseball games.

Gone a week.

Still amazed that Littleton went to Class S. Whatever happened to that 5 class proposal? White Mtns looks strong for the first time in awhile, too. Is Vince Judd's brother still coaching in Pittsburg?

If so, did they call it?

Richard Judd is the coach at Pittsburg...for the last several years he coached both the GV and BV but this year just the BV..NH has changed its classifications again..it now has four divisions..by the way the enrollment in the Pittsburg HS is at 45 students..one of there better players is in his 4th year of Varsity and is only a sophmore ..

The farthest I've ever traveled to work games is from Portland to Seattle. This was about 15 years ago. A guy I used to work kids tournaments for asked me if I would go up there for a weekend and work 4 games on a Saturday and 4 on a Sunday, including the championship game which started at 8:00 pm. There were boys MS teams from Oregon, Idaho and Washington in the tournament and also two teams from Vancouver, BC. He paid me mileage, room and food plus $150 for doing this, which came to almost $20 per game which wasn't bad back then. It was in early December and was kind of a season "kick-off" tourney.

I went and had a lot of fun. It was held at a high school just outside Seattle and I stayed at a pretty nice motel. I was one of three officials who came up from Oregon to work this. The idea was to have a "balance" of officials representing the various areas of participation.

I don't remember much else about it except that the Canadian team that I had in one of my games had quite a few rules questions. Also, I remember the fans being really well behaved.

The following year, I worked two tournaments for him on the Oregon coast. I miss those days.

I Always Go Home To Get My Bag, I'm Forgetful ...

Farthest school in my local area is 50 miles one way from home. I live in a the southwest corner of my area. The school is in the northeast corner of my area. Luckily I work near the center of our geographic area. Just don't tell the IRS that.

That sounds familiar, Bob.

The Cdn teams in that area play FIBA, so Fed is new to them.

As of right now, Ontario high schools are the only user groups that still play Fed. I wish they'd bail on Fed too and go to FIBA like everyone else.
